Major Game of Thrones Star Still Has Not Watched the Finale That Outraged Fans
Sean Bean has more things to do than keep up with ‘Game of Thrones’.
Sean Bean has no clue whatsoever about the ending of HBO’s Game of Thrones. He led the first season as the Lord of Winterfell before getting his head cut off in the ninth episode. Since then, he never followed the story of the series.
Season 8 was, indeed, the most controversial and critically panned installment of the famed fantasy show. Fans blamed showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss for the lackluster plot and anticlimactic finale that apparently ruined the franchise.Sean Bean Didn’t Keep Up With Game Of Thrones
Sean Bean once spoke with The Times and was asked about his opinion on the season finale’s ending. Surprisingly, he does not know what happened. In turn, he asked the interviewer what took place in the show.
The actor did not keep up with the hype after his character’s poor fate in the first season. When he found out that Winterfell became its own kingdom, he responded: “So did Winterfell stay separate? Oh, good for them.”
His tepid response to the fate of the beloved characters in the series only went to prove that he was not really invested in the story to always be in the loop, unlike millions of fans who have been patiently waiting for the upcoming seasons and dodging spoilers on the Internet.
If anything, the actor should consider himself lucky for avoiding the show so he would not know the trainwreck that happened in the final season. In his interview with Vulture, he reflected on his short-lived role:
“I just did my bit and then I had to go! I don’t get to argue about that, right? I go in and out. With working and traveling and stuff like that, it’s difficult to keep in touch.”
“But I’ve meant to just sit down and watch them all over one weekend. I like to binge-watch, especially for something big like this.”
Surprisingly, Bean admitted he never gets any inside information about the happenings in the series, which he thought was good because he also did not want any spoilers.
Will Ned Stark Return To The Franchise?
In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Sean Bean revealed he is interested in reprising his role if given the opportunity. It remains a mystery how his character can be resurrected, but still, the actor said:
“I don’t know if he’d ever be incorporated again. But yeah, it’s always nice to think that you could be involved in some way in such a great series, something that became worldwide. If I’m ever asked again, it would be nice to be involved in some way.”
Bringing back his character would be a risky move, though it remains under the discretion of the showrunners and George R.R. Martin himself, who also oversees the television projects.
Game of Thrones is available to stream via HBO.
