In 2019, HBO ran the final six episodes of Game of Thrones, and they didn’t go how a lot of fans were expecting. The White Walkers, who had been set up as the big apocalyptic threat for the series, were stopped at Winterfell three episodes in, leaving Cersei Lannister in King’s Landing as the last big hurdle to be jumped. Daenerys Targaryen ended up firebombing the city from dragonback before installing herself as dictator and promptly getting assassinated by Jon Snow.
I think a lot of fans were probably looking forward to seeing the White Walkers march on King’s Landing, which had been such an iconic location for the series. It didn’t happen, but thanks to the creativity of fans, we can get a glimpse of how it might have looked if it did. Check out this fan-made edit below:

And then there’s the shot of the Night King creeping up behind Cersei. How can the Night King be in the Red Keep and riding Viserion at the same time, you ask? Because whatever, that’s why. Maybe in this version of the story the Night King and his army killed and revived another dragon before making it to King’s Landing. Or maybe this is just cool and we needn’t ask such questions.
We’ll likely never see zombie dragons take King’s Landing. But we will see plenty more dragons in the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel show House of the Dragon, which airs on HBO and Max next summer.
