Creator of Geralt of Rivia, Andrzej Sapkowski himself stated that Henry Cavill was the perfect Witche
Henry Cavill’s departure from Netflix’s acclaimed and fan-favorite show, The Witcher was a huge blow. Many fans would definitely struggle to see Liam Hemsworth as Geralt as Cavill has embedded himself in the role with the charisma fitting to the character.
Andrzej Sapkowski, author of the popular fantasy book series on which the show is based, revealed his remark on the show’s primary star. The author said that Cavill is irreplaceable and he loved the way he played the character.
Andrzej Sapkowski Said Henry Cavill’s The Witcher Voice is Perfect
After his DC role as Superman, Geralt of Rivia was the next best role of Henry Cavill’s career, at least, several fans would agree. The Witcher role has enhanced his fandom to a different level and fans loved his portrayal of the beloved character created by Andrzej Sapkowski. Speaking with Beyond Pixels in German, Sapkowski said, “I really like the Netflix series” while acknowledging Cavill’s voice for the character.
“I repeat, there are only letters [in my books]. But then I also saw the series from Netflix and I would say the voice of Cavill, that’s right for me. So my own idea of Geralt’s voice, that would be Cavill,” Sapkowski said.
Sapkowski’s idea of the voice of Geralt of Rivia was a perfect match with Cavill. It was ideal for the character, however, fans would have to wait for another voice in speculation for it to be close to the standards that Cavill set for the character.
Andrzej Sapkowski on Henry Cavill’s Appearance as Geralt
For Sapkowski, it is not just Cavill’s voice but his appearance as Geralt has certainly created a good impression of the author of the book series. The creator of the character believes that Cavill in the Netflix show has been phenomenal as he justified his imagination with the portrayal on screen.
“I was more than happy with Henry Cavill’s appearance as The Witcher. He’s a real professional. Just as Viggo Mortensen gave his face to Aragorn [in The Lord of the Rings], so Henry gave his to Geralt — and it shall be forever so,” Sapkowski told People.
Despite Cavill’s charismatic avatar in the role, he will not appear in the Netflix show again as the showrunner has cast The Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth to play the titular character. Following Cavill’s departure from the show after season 3, the showrunners are reportedly looking to premiere season 4 with Hemsworth in 2025.
