An anonymous Emmy voter had zero interest in watching ‘House of the Dragon’.
- ‘House of the Dragon’ is nominated for Outstanding drama series at the 75th Emmy Awards.
- An anonymous Emmy voter has admitted they only watched 10 minutes of the ‘GoT’ spin-off.
- ‘GoT’ fans are appalled at the decision to give such a voter power to decide ‘HoD”s fate at the Emmys.
With a record 59 Emmy wins between 2011 and 2020, Game of Thrones is considered one of the most popular and critically acclaimed shows of all time. The story of nine noble families hooked millions to their screens for nearly a decade.
Accordingly, when HBO premiered House of the Dragon, there was an air of excitement and eagerness among GoT fans to catch sight of the first spin-off series of the epic fantasy drama. However, ahead of Monday night’s big Emmy Awards event, an Emmy voter has surprised the fans by expressing his sheer disinterest in following the new saga from the George R.R. Martin-orchestrated universe.
What The Emmy Voter Has Said About House of the Dragon
Still, power doesn’t mean peace. Season 1 of the series sets the base for a civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons after a conflict between two siblings for the throne. The Ryan J. Condal-created series earned rave reviews from fans, who can’t wait to see what Condal and George R. R. Martin have in store for the second season.
House of the Dragon is also in the race for an award at the 75th Emmy Awards on Monday night after being nominated for Outstanding drama series. However, a comment from a member of the TV Academy’s Producers Peer Group suggests there’s little chance HoD will win the said award.
Writing for The Hollywood Reporter, the member admitted they had no interest in watching the spin-off series, admitting:
“You couldn’t pay me to watch House of the Dragon — I was a Game of Thrones person, but I watched 10 minutes of this and read the reviews and it just seemed like a money grab.”
Needless to say, this has annoyed GoT fans, who are appalled at the clear signs of a lack of professionalism in the decision-making process of the US TV industry’s highest honor.
Thats very unprofessionell

Shouldn’t that disqualify this person as a judge?

This person is toxic and clearly doesn’t understand their job here and should be replaced expeditiously.

They shouldn’t be given the privilege to vote then, regardless if they are interested in it or not, they’re supposed to give the awards to the most deserving

I hope the public understands this is how much of the voting is done.

House of the Dragon isn’t the only show that supposedly didn’t catch the Emmy voter’s interest, as they added the only reason they saw the first season of The Crown (and then nothing afterward) was because of their wife.
What Chernobyl Creator Told Emmy Voter About The Last of Us
Craig Mazin earned plenty of recognition, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding limited series in 2019, for Chernobyl, a mini-series about the explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
The member of the TV Academy’s Producers Peer Group also shared an interesting conversation they had with Mazin, recalling:
“The Last of Us? Right after Chernobyl, I had lunch with Craig [Mazin] and asked what he was doing next. He goes, ‘HBO gave me this video game.’ I went, ‘You’re going from Chernobyl to a video game?!’ He goes, ‘Yeah. Even worse, it’s about zombies.’ I was like, ‘What are you doing?!’ He goes, ‘It’s going to surprise you.’ And man, did it ever. It’s an absolute work of art.”
The Last of Us certainly surprised (and impressed) everyone, raising the ceiling for TV shows based on video games. For Monday night’s ceremony, the Pedro Pascal starrer is nominated in five categories, including Outstanding drama series.
