Netflix has officially renewed Avatar: The Last Airbender for Season 2 and Season 3. And Daniel Dae Kim orchestrated a prank on the Avatar cast before sharing the news of its double renewal. During the video chat session, cast members Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, Elizabeth Yu, and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, were led to believe that the show had been canceled.

Kim shared that he has had discussions about the show’s reception and its potential future, saying, “They did share a bit of news with me.” He further stated that the streaming giant asked him to deliver the “sensitive” news. He shared,
“It may not be the news that we are expecting… It was a very special show for me and I think it was for everyone else and so I am sorry if this is unexpected but they are not able to announce a season 2 for our show.”

Kim left the cast of the show in disbelief with the announcement, with everyone from Gordon Cormier to Paul Sun-Hyung Lee looking heartbroken with the possibility of the show’s cancelation. However, the actor swiftly shared that Netflix would instead like to announce Season 2 and 3 for the show, leading the cast to rejoice and even Cormier calling his co-star “evil” for trolling them.

The cast of Avatar: The Last Airbender went through a rollercoaster of emotions amid Daniel Dae Kim’s prank about the show’s renewal. Their initial shock turned to joy as they celebrated the exciting news, though Ian Ousley admitted feeling duped by Kim’s prank, labeling it as, “cruel.”

Gordon Cormier, who plays the lead role of Aang, quipped, “Daniel, screw you, why would you do this to us,” before adding, “That was evil, man.” Dallas Liu also expressed his surprise at the fake cancellation news, arguing that he had checked the numbers earlier and was genuinely taken aback by the revelation.
Details surrounding the next seasons of the show are yet to be revealed. Season 1 followed the events of Book One: Water, which is the first season of the Nickelodeon series.
