Even after almost 2 decades since its release, fans can’t help but admit how truly exhilarating the fight sequence between Aang and Ozai was in ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’!
With the recent live-action adaptation of the original animated series drawing fans back into the saga, the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe is once again raging among worldwide audiences at full intensity. That said, ATLA fans are now revisiting some of the most jaw-dropping scenes of the original animated series from 2005.
Out of all of those star-studded action sequences, there is one specific scene that has caught fans’ attention once again: The moment when Aang and Ozai get into a ferocious brawl during the final battle, i.e. the battle at the Wulong Forest. And, as expected, they have fallen all the more in love with the ATLA universe because of the same.
Aang vs Ozai: The Breathtaking Brawl at the Wulong Forest
In The Last Airbender, the battle at the Wulong Forest was the final battle that put an end to the Hundred Year War.
It happened between the young Air Nomad, who was in his most immaculately fierce personality at this moment, and Ozai, the self-proclaimed Phoenix King who led the Fire Nation airship armada in the battle.
Initially in the scene, the Phoenix King gained the upper hand since he was more feisty than his opponent, who maintained his calm and peace at the beginning of the fight. Landing some of the most brutal blows through firebending, he almost defeated the Air Nomad.
That was until the latter’s Avatar state was fully restored.
As soon as this happened with his locked seventh chakra opening up and activating the self-defensive power of this powerful state, the 12-year-old (or more like 112 years old) found himself taking over the fight.
Not only did he start to deflect his opponent’s blows, but he even managed to leave the self-proclaimed Phoenix King flabbergasted with his power.
This was where fans truly lost it: The scene where the Air Nomad suddenly emerged to grab his opponent’s goatee and then deflected his firebending attack in the most effortless manner possible. He then released an immensely strong gust of air, sending the Phoenix King flying into a stone pillar.
If that wasn’t enough, the young Air Nomad continued with his attacks, but only to severe him to the core all the while keeping his promise and not killing him.
Because of all the action sequences in this scene holding some of the most lethal blows from both warriors (especially the young one), viewers were constantly at the edge of their seats and pumping up their fists at the stunningness of the masterpiece moment.
And now, after revisiting this moment almost two decades since its original release, fans are still as hyped about it as ever.
Fans React to This Intense Moment from Avatar: The Last Airbender
Recently, @aangdaily took to their X handle to bring back attention to this very intense and utterly exhilarating moment. Attaching the clip where the Air Nomad truly destroys the Phoenix King after unlocking his true potential, they tweeted:
Aang grabbing Ozai’s goatee is the most hype moment in the show like that shit was so disrespectful pic.twitter.com/XgpTLQCp02

This was followed by multiple fans piling up in the comment section of the tweet to share just how much they love this scene as well as ATLA because of this very moment. Here are some of the comments on what they’re saying:
It’s the fact that Aang’s main concern prior to this wasn’t if he would win, but rather, he didn’t want to kill him. Kid was just 12. He is him. The GOAT
