The second season premiere of House of the Dragon is essentially set for June. The return of the Game of Thrones prequel series is almost upon us, and we’re starting to hear some very interesting rumbling about what’s in store.

Before we go any further, know that there are SPOILERS down below.

If you recall, the first season of House of the Dragon ended with Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) looking square into the camera, resolved to go to war with her half-brother Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) for the Iron Throne. We only move forward from here, but a note from the Independent Talent Group — which represents actors, directors, writers and producers — suggests we may have to go backwards first.

What do I mean by that? Well, the Twitter account Wake the Dragon noticed that Independent Talent tagged a bunch of actors and crew members in an Instagram Stories post about House of the Dragon season 2. There are actors on there we all expect to see in season 2, like Eve Best and Ewan Mitchell, who play Rhaenys Targaryen and Aemond Targaryen respectively. Both of their characters have stories left to tell. But the post also Independent Talent actor Sian Brooke, who played Rhaenyra Targaryen’s mother Aemma Arryn.

Aemma, you may remember, died in the very first episode of the show. She died giving birth to Rhaenyra’s little brother, who did not end up surviving either. Her death would haunt her husband King Viserys (Paddy Considine) for the rest of his life, and haunts Rhaenyra to this day.

Independent Talent could just be mentioning Sian Brooke because she was part of the first season, or this could mean that she turns up in the second. If she does turn up, in what capacity will she appear? Perhaps in a flashback to kick off the season? Maybe a dream that Rhaenyra has as she fights for the throne? We’ll find out more when House of the Dragon season 2 returns in a few months.
