“Loads of stuff”: House of the Dragon Star Emma D’Arcy Won’t Reveal Emilia Clarke’s Advice to Them Before Taking on the Targaryen Princess Role

As Emma D’Arcy’s House of the Dragon Season 2 is set to premiere on June 16, on HBO, let’s take a look back at the time when the actress first appeared on the show. Turning the HBO prequel to Game of Thrones into an uber-successful series, D’Arcy revealed receiving advice from Emilia Clarke ahead of taking on the Targaryen princess role.

Portraying the role of Rhaenyra Targaryen on the hit HBO series House of the Dragon, Emma D’Arcy played the predecessor of Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen. But since D’Arcy appeared in a prequel show that was shot after Game of Thrones, they were apparently advised by Clarke about Targaryens and much more, which they refused to reveal.

Emma D’Arcy Refused to Reveal Emilia Clarke’s Advice

Appearing in the 2022 HBO drama series that was released as a prequel to the highly appreciated Game of Thrones, Emma D’Arcy played the role of Rhaenyra Targaryen. Appearing as a predecessor to Emilia Clarke‘s Daenerys Targaryen, the actress nailed their role in House of the Dragon. Currently, the show is set to have its highly anticipated second season released on June 16, 2024.

Taking a look back at the time when Emma D’Arcy initially appeared as Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, we came across their interview with THR. Speaking with the outlet, D’Arcy admitted receiving advice from Emilia Clarke probably about the character, ahead of taking on the Targaryen princess role. But surprisingly the actress refused to reveal the exact advice.

I spoke to Emilia Clarke before I started shooting, and she was beautiful and so generous.” D’Arcy shared.

What did she tell you?” The interviewer asked.

Loads of stuff, which honestly, I’m going to keep for myself. I’m also very lucky. That wig is a blessing; people don’t recognize me, so my day-to-day is broadly unchanged, which I feel very grateful for, not least because, and maybe this is also a question, I feel that the ability to observe others and not be the observed is so fundamentally important to our job.”

Refusing to reveal the advice they received from Emilia Clarke, Emma D’Arcy changed the topic and shifted to the conversation about the famous white wig, that is synonymous with the Targaryens.

Emma D’Arcy to Reprise Their Role in House of the Dragon S2

While the actress spoke about the advice in 2023, after appearing in the first season of House of the Dragon, Emma D’Arcy is now set to reprise their role in the second season of the show. As the next part continuing the tale of the Targaryens is set to premiere on June 16, fans are eagerly waiting for the actors to hop into their roles.

Meanwhile, keeping the hype alive, HBO dropped the first look at House of the Dragon Season 2, on Thursday. Releasing not one, but two trailers and revealing a much-awaited premiere date, the studio showcased the two sides of the show’s upcoming civil war. While the first season consisting of 10 episodes ended a year and a half ago, it brilliantly set the stage for the fight to come.

Now, the trailer of the highly anticipated second season opened with a looming war, where Aegon II seemed a little too eager to welcome it. Meanwhile, Emma D’Arcy’s Rhaenyra is shown laying out plans for the conflict with her children. While previously Season 1 of House of the Dragon focused exclusively on the noble houses like the Targaryens, the Velaryons, and the Hightowers, Season 2 will expand on that very scope.

House of the Dragon S1 is available on Max.
