There’s nothing quite like Netflix’s Bridgerton. Filled with longing, drama, and steaminess, it’s no wonder why the series has become a bit of a phenomenon, with a spinoff show, another season on its way, and live events too.

But while we’re waiting for Bridgerton season 3, what are we supposed to do to fill our time? Reading the Bridgerton books (and other historical romances) isn’t a bad idea, but if you want to watch some television that can fill that Bridgerton-sized hole in you heart until the first half (yes, first half) of season 3 drops on Netflix, here are the shows we recommend.

Miss Scarlet and the Duke

If what draws you to Bridgerton is the long lingering looks, you will find a lot of the same in Miss Scarlet and the Duke. Though the series are quite different, with Miss Scarlet and the Duke being a mystery-focused show, the central romance between the two leads is the slowest of slow burns, which makes it great for Bridgerton fans.

Sanditon

Sanditon is an adaptation of Jane Austen’s final, unfinished novel, and it follows one of her most complex leading heroines Charlotte Heywood, as she navigates society and romance in a seaside resort. If you’re in love with Regency era manners and dramas, Sanditon is probably a good bet for you.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

This recommendation may be a bit of a cheat, as Queen Charlotte is, as its title says, a Bridgerton Story. But if you haven’t checked out this Bridgerton prequel, which follows both Queen Charlotte and everybody’s favorite Lady Danbury in their youthful years, it’ll give you all the Bridgerton things you love, plus a bit of tragic wistfulness that the main series doesn’t have.

Outlander

Sweeping romance and sweeping drama reigns surpreme in historical show Outlander, which follows WWII military nurse Claire Randall as she is transported back to 1743 Scotland. There’s a lot of danger to navigate, but there’s romance too, and a complicated relationship. If you love historical romance, Outlander is probably already on your list, so why not give it a go?

Pride and Prejudice

The 1995 Pride and Prejudice miniseries holds a very special place in the heart of many Austen fans. With a sparkling Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth Bennet and a swoony Colin Firth as Mister Darcy, there are few Regency romances that hit the heights that this six episode adaptation reaches.
