Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender premiered on the streamer on February 22, 2024, amidst great fanfare and anticipation. Fans of the original animated series were looking forward to it as they were impressed by the trailer. While they are still haunted by M. Night Shyamalan’s dismal 2010 adaptation, there was hope that this Netflix adaptation would be better.

While reviews have been mixed, it was deemed an improvement over the 2010 adaptation. It has been reported by Variety that Avatar: The Last Airbender is now the number 1 show in the world and has amassed over 21.2 million views within its first four days of release, which is a 15% increase from Netflix’s One-Piece live adaptation.

Kim, who plays Fire Lord Ozai in the series, took to X to congratulate the entire team behind the series for this huge success. He wrote, “Congratulations to everyone involved!”. Despite die-hard fans finding the series lacking in substance and familiarity with the source material, general audiences seem to have enjoyed the series.

There has not been word about a season 2 of the series as of yet, but the promising viewership of the series will surely increase the chances of it happening. It remains to be seen whether Netflix will bring back the series for a second season, amidst the backlash from die-hard fans. Fans can watch Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix.

Daniel Dae Kim starred as Dr. Jackson Han in the second season of ABC’s The Good Doctor. He was also instrumental in bringing the series to life and its successful seven-year run at ABC. The series is finally coming to an end with its seventh season and Kim is reflecting on the success of the show and what it has meant to him.

In an interview with Deadline, Kim pointed out how it is extremely rare for a series to go over multiple seasons and more than 100 episodes. He is extremely proud of what the show has achieved over the years. He also expressed that he would love to appear in the final season but it would be difficult to do so due to his prior commitments to other projects. He said,

“It’s been a wonderful ride, The Good Doctor. Seven years nowadays is actually saying a lot. This is actually the third series I’ve been lucky to be a part of that has gone over 100 episodes. I know that’s rare and I appreciate that for what it is. I’m grateful for everyone who’s been part of the show. I’m thankful for them for staying with the show and doing such a great job”

He is set to lead Amazon’s six-episode spy thriller series Butterfly which will start production this year. In film, Kim was most recently seen in 2023’s Joy Ride.
