Bridgerton‘s Nicola Coughlan has teased a massive ‘change’ and some ‘special’ moments fir Penelope Featherington in season 3 of the period romp.
The actress, 37, who stars as Penelope in the hit Netflix series, appeared on Wednesday’s The One Show and discussed the upcoming season.
The third series of the hit regency romance, which follows the eight Bridgerton siblings attempting to find love, will pick up with Penelope and Colin Bridgerton’s (Luke Newton) love story.
Nicola told hosts Lauren Laverne and Jermaine Jenas that her character is ‘always having a terrible time’.
But hinting that things are looking up for Penelope, Nicola said: ‘It is eight months filming for a season, it changes so much, it is a very action packed season.

In the final episode of season two, Penelope heard Colin’s snide comments to the other gentleman about her and has decided to finally give up one her long unrequited feelings for him.
Penelope has decided to take a husband during the third season, hopefully one who will allow her independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown. On the other hand, Colin returns with a new swagger but is left disheartened to find his close pal Penelope, who always appreciates him, is giving him the cold shoulder.
Colin becomes desperate to mend his relationship with Penelope and offers to help her build her confidence to find a husband.
When his lessons start to pay off for her, Colin must make a decision whether his feelings are friendly or something more.
In the first look pictures, the pair are seen both staring into one another’s eyes while beaming in their finery.
In another snap, Penelope and Colin look rather close as they become more serious in their role.
Penelope seems to be upset as she sits in a window seat alone in the final photo with her hand to her face.

Also at the end of the last season, Penelope’s best friend and Colin’s sister Eloise (Claudia Jessie) discovered her scandalous secret that she is Lady Whistledown.
During season three the rift between Eloise and Penelope continues and grows more complicated. Penelope will also struggle to keep her identity quiet as her presence in the ton grows makes it more difficult.
The Shondaland production will see Daniel Francis, Sam Phillips, and James Phoon join the cast this season.
Francis will play Marcus Anderson, a charismatic presence who attracts the notice of certain matriarchs in the ton and annoyance from others.
Phillips will portray Lord Debling, a genial lord with unusual interests who has wealth and a noble title to back up his eccentricities and a long line of young romantic interests.
