A new fan art showing Henry Cavill as Aegon Targaryen is proof that he is perfect for the new prequel series.
Henry Cavill has risen among his contemporaries and has become one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood. The actor has played some of the most iconic characters in pop culture including Superman in the DCEU and The Witcher in the hit Netflix series. His incredible dedication to authenticity and action sequences in these projects has made him a fan-favorite actor.
Cavill has been the subject of fan-casting in many franchises including James Bond, and Marvel. The actor is open to doing great work in any project that has great potential. Recent fan art of him as Aegon Targaryen from the Game of Thrones lore shows how it would be perfect casting if he was cast as the character in the prequel series that is in development.
Fan Art Proves Henry Cavill Is Perfect for Aegon Targaryen in Aegon’s Conquest Series
Since the end of Game of Thrones, HBO has been developing various prequel series that will expand the franchise and go deep into unexplored territories. 2022’s House of the Dragon‘s success proved that there is a huge audience for this approach if done well. HBO’s next prequel series will be Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which will be released in late 2025 on Max.
Another prequel series that was announced will be about Aegon Targaryen’s conquest of Westeros which recently tapped The Batman Part II writer Mattson Tomlin to pen the script for the series (via The Hollywood Reporter). Fans have been wondering who will play the tyrannical invader in the series but a recent fan art by Fortress of Solitude of Henry Cavill as Aegon Targaryen is sure to excite fans.
In the fan art, Cavill can be seen wearing the armor and donning white long hair, somewhat reminiscent of his time in The Witcher series. He has shown in that series that he is incredibly capable of being the brooding and intimidating individual and can commit to well-choreographed action sequences. He would surely be perfect to play the part.
The project is still in early development and Cavill is also busy with many prior commitments. However, the casting choice is interesting and HBO will be losing a golden opportunity if they don’t (at least) consider him for the role. It remains to be seen who they end up casting for the character.
One Scene in Mission: Impossible Fallout Was The Hardest Scene for Henry Cavill
Henry Cavill played the main antagonist August Walker in 2018’s Mission Impossible: Fallout. A franchise that is known for its insane stunts, Cavil wanted to make his mark in the franchise and he got to do that with the crazy helicopter chase scene between him and Tom Cruise towards the end of the film. However, Cavill was incredibly scared while shooting the scene.
In an interview with Collider, he revealed that the helicopter chase was the hardest action sequence of his entire career. He was terrified of being on the edge of an open helicopter despite being on harnesses. He gave all the credit for the scene to Cruise who was actually flying his helicopter. He said,
“The hardest action set piece or sequence I’ve done is easily the helicopter scene in Mission: Impossible [Fallout]. That was crazy. I mean, Tom [Cruise] was doing all the real work — he was flying the helicopter. I was just hanging out the back of the other one…I mean, it was just cold. That was the problem.
On the bravery piece, to begin with, you have a little half harness on with a length of cable about that long, and initially, you are terrified of sitting on the edge of an open helicopter in the mountains, but by take two, you are leaning all the way out full trust. But it’s amazing how you stop being scared as soon as you end up trusting that harness.”
Cavill is continuing his action hero era and he was recently seen in Matthew Vaughn’s spy comedy Argylle. He will next be seen in the upcoming Guy Ritchie film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare alongside Alan Ritchson and Eiza González. He will also star in the reboot of Highlander directed by Chad Stahelski.
